So, since 2012 I have been operating Skoda Yeti all-wheel drive 1.8 turbo. Despite the completely different class of cars, you will have to compare with it, because Mazda has not been there until now. What we liked: the design of the Mazda CX-9 is beyond praise, 4+ interior (poor ergonomics with good design and materials), driving properties 4 (smooth running, minimal rolls, excellent dynamics, disgusting in a rut, yaw of the front axle during acceleration "in floor", zero permeability). Excellent informative brakes, perfectly “rulitsya”. A very good head light, but so far I have not figured out if it is a turning one. Good audio system. The abundance of electronic assistants. What I did not like at all: as indicated above - ergonomics. The controls are not well placed. For example, not only is the light control on the turn signal lever, but also the steering wheel rim completely covers the switch. As a result, it is impossible, without diverting attention from the road, to switch the mode. Half of the buttons in the interior of the Mazda CX-9 are not illuminated, the landing zone was not illuminated, and there is no smooth auto-adjustment of the brightness of the instrument scale. There are no drawers for storing any small things, as is done with any Skoda. Shumka is better than the Yeti, but the Tuareg is quieter. There is no control of all-wheel drive modes. Further, there is much less space behind the front passenger than behind the driver (I set up both seats for myself). To sit in front more or less comfortably, the passenger seat will be moved back more than the driver's. Poor speed stabilization by cruise control +/- 5 km / h from the set value at a speed of 75 km / h (Yeti +/- 2 km / h). "Yeti" on the descent actively switched the box down and braked by the engine, here the car accelerates from the mountain without making significant attempts to slow down. A horse's turning radius - I didn't drive into the parking lot in the "Festival" the first time, I had to back away. Today, the consumption in busy Moscow is 17.7 l / 100 km. From the identified pluses: I traveled along the Kyiv highway; I tried acceleration from 100 km / h - excellent. He noted that if you accelerate from 70 km / h and above, there is no yaw, so the issue can be considered closed, because I don’t leave the traffic lights, and there are good dynamics on the highway - just right. Consumption at 100 km / h 9.1 liters. Great Bluetooth - people don't feel that I'm talking through it. Feelings are still mixed, like the car is not bad, but there is no love.

Now the mileage of the Mazda CX-9 is a little more than 7 thousand, and in fact the review itself. My height/weight is 187/90. I sit behind myself on the second row with a margin of 10-15 cm on my knees. There are not a lot of places on record, but more than enough. My sense of beauty deeply resonates with the design of the Mazda CX-9, both inside and out. Every time you go out, you want to turn around and it's great. I'm not one of those who poke a finger and check the soft plastic or not, but everything is fine here. Dynamics. She is. Of course, this is far from a sports car, but for a 5-meter crocodile, 8-plus seconds of actual acceleration, for the eyes. Moreover, what is even more important, that this very dynamics is very convenient to manage. The box instantly understands what you want and quickly jumps on necessary programs. There is still a small “Turbolag” at low speeds, but this does not interfere with the dynamics at all, the box levels out. But how nice it drags a moment of 420 N / m and at the same time there are no vibrations from the unit at all, a real pleasure. Of course, there is no understanding regarding the reliability of the engine, I will only note that over 7 thousand the oil level has not moved a millimeter. Fuel consumption - average for 7000 km - 10.29 liters. This is for gas stations, I think in the application. The computer shows 10.3. On average, my movement can be described as a mixed cycle, I don’t stand in traffic jams, the dynamics are with the flow. The minimum was 8.37L, with 600 km, it was a 110 night cruise. acoustic comfort. He is, and he is on top. He slammed the door and fenced himself off from the hustle and bustle with double glazing. The noise of the wheels and the road is not particularly annoying, aerodynamic appears somewhere from 120 (thanks to the roof rails, without them I think even later). But I note a loud motor, especially under good gas. Suspension comfort. On the suspension, not everything is so clear. The trifle swallows very well (there is simply no small thing), but the pits are larger, it passes quite hard. Before lying down, you have to slow down, perhaps the problem is 20 bast shoes.

What I don't like about the Mazda CX-9 is that it's not perfect. Our maximum equipment is never the maximum, in the states it is the maximum. The ventilation of the seats was blocked. Well, I don’t understand how to ride a leather interior without ventilation, the back is always damp, sadness, sadness. The radio tape recorder has few settings in general and in terms of sound quality in particular, sort of like a Bose with 12 speakers, but all the adjustments are bass and treble. I'm not a music lover and for me it plays well in default, but I can't fine-tune something in detail. There is no Apple Car and Android Auto, although it was announced in the 2019 version of the model year, and it can be delivered to the current version, in Ukraine it is already hanging on the Mazda website for $ 200. We are waiting in the Russian Federation and will be updated. One minus will be less. No on-board computer. I don't know my average speed, curtain. I wrote about the suspension above, large potholes and the police pass hard, although it does not break through. The sound of the engine, it's a bit too much, but it's never a V6.

Pros: comfort both at the core (landing, ease of control of all buttons, heating and cooling of the passenger compartment both on the 1st and 2nd row effectively) and in small things (backlighting, noise isolation is really surprising), the real spaciousness of the cabin, excellent linear acceleration, handling as CX-5 (excellent). External perception (both by the owner and acquaintances): restrained nobility. Inside - a serious solidity in everything. Fuel consumption in the combined cycle (5 days a week it is Moscow with all our traffic jams, on weekends - a cottage along the highway, also not always “empty” - 11.7 l / 100). The computer does not lie, it coincides with the actual measurement of the tank. The figure is quite decent for the displayed dynamics of acceleration and movement. The disadvantages have not yet been identified, but it seems to be a traditional disease of the Japanese: weak paintwork. Small scratches from snowflakes are already visible. Provocateur at 170 km / h and more (there are places where you can pamper yourself 5-10 km). Yes, and at 100 km/h in the city. It seems that he didn’t touch the pedal at all, but on the speedometer it’s already going off scale and wait for “letters of happiness”. The speed is not felt at all. At 170 km / h, even the ever-nervous passengers (spouse or parents) do not immediately perceive that an experiment is underway until they notice that the rest of the flow on the right has “stopped”. And at the same time, they won’t “hysteria”: the car was created for 180+ obviously.

In addition, there is the possibility of monitoring blind spots and switching headlights from low beam to high beam. But only the Sport version is equipped with this function. Despite the fact that the car has a fairly large size, new model quite simple and comfortable to drive, has a powerful engine and excellent performance, guaranteeing a safe ride even at high speeds.

Design

The appearance of the updated CX-9 is Mazda-style modern - catchy and at the same time surprisingly concise. It is simply impossible not to notice such a car in a stormy city traffic. All lighting technology of the second CX-9 is based on LED technology. In urban conditions, it is ideal - at an average distance, dense white light is in no way inferior to the illumination provided by xenon optics.

Design

The upgraded Mazda 9 is based on the same platform that powers the latest CX-5, making it one of the best crossover trucks on the market today. The scheme of its suspensions is as follows: installed in front independent suspension on McPherson struts, and at the rear - a multi-link. The drive is full by default, with a multi-plate clutch in the rear wheel drive (like the CX-5), and the brakes are disc (front - ventilated). The wheelbase, unlike the CX-5, is increased by 23 cm, and the overall length - by as much as 525 mm. In addition, the novelty provides all the necessary heating, namely, heated seats of the 1st and 2nd rows, steering wheel and wiper rest area. And in addition, there is a separate climate control for the driver / front passenger and a separate “climate” for the rear riders. Noise isolation, compared to its predecessor, is better - due to acoustic glass in the doors, additional seals in doorways, soundproofing materials on the floor, reduced engine noise and minimal gaps between body parts. The noise level is close to 67 decibels: close, but in this regard, the “Japanese” lags behind its popular premium competitor, the BMW X3.

Comfort

The interior of the new CX-9 has been extensively used metallized plastic. Metal looks nice and neat, without kitsch. Stylishly made the transition from the inner lining of the door to the complex profile of the ventilation deflector frame in the corner of the front panel. The dashboard is a classic arrow. On the right side of the "tidy" there is a miniature LCD screen for various passing indications. The climate control control unit is rather narrow and small, “registered” behind the gearshift knob in a recess. With that hint that the best solution is automatic mode ... There are not so many storage compartments in the cabin. Door pockets, a modest-sized glove compartment, a pair of cup holders, a glasses case and a double-wing armrest box - that's it. Skoda is far from practical, but in general, this is not bad.


The chairs of the second CX-9 are designed for people of any size. The profile of the chairs is well chosen, and a wide range of adjustments makes it easy to fit the seat “for you”. There is enough space for the head and legs on the 1st row, but the most spacious is on the back sofa. Passengers of average build will be able to sit in the back even if the seats of the 1st row are fully pushed back. And if they are not fully extended, then the rear will be free for riders of any height. For convenience rear passengers 2 USB ports, separate climate control, armrest and cup holders, smartphone compartment and 3-stage heating. Getting to the 3rd row without difficulty is quite real.
