In the electric drive, the cable actuator has a different design. It includes a guide at the ends of which rollers are installed. The electric motor with the gearbox is placed a little to the side of this guide. The drive cable is laid between the guide rollers and goes to the gearbox drum, where it is fixed.
In the area between the guide rollers, a slider is attached to the cable, which in turn is connected to the glass. When the electric motor is turned on, one side of the cable begins to wind on the drum, and the other side begins to unwind. Due to this, the cable between the rollers moves, and with it the slider with glass.
Lever type power window
The lever actuator works on a different principle. There is a lever, at one end of which a semicircular gear sector is made, connected with the driven gear of the reducer. Its other end is connected to a bar on which glass is planted. The lever from the side of the sector is connected by means of a bracket to a fixed plate fixed on the door.

The third type of actuator is rack and pinion, and there are several types of it. One of these mechanisms has a fixed guide with a toothed sector along its entire length. The lever mechanism combines high reliability and small size. The electric motor in such a mechanism rotates the gear, which transmits the rotation to one or two levers. The levers move the plate that holds the glass. The principle of operation gives rise to the main drawback of such a device, which is the uneven speed of glass movement: the higher it is, the lower the speed. 
The glass itself, regardless of what types of power windows are used on cars, moves along the guides. Within the doors, this role is played by gutters, and inside - by special rails.
What are impulse windows?
There are two types of power windows: pulse and non-pulse. Pulse windows can operate in both pulsed and normal modes. Normal mode means that the power window operates only when the control button is pressed. In pulse mode, one short press is enough to fully lower or raise the window.
As a rule, impulse windows are equipped with five-position control keys, which from the neutral position have two positions up and two down. When the key is moved to the first position, the window regulator operates normally and the window will go down or up exactly as far as the driver wants. - If the size of the cable is not enough, then you need to pull it on 2 rollers and release the latch - latch and put it on the roller elements without sagging;
- After installing the window regulator, we tighten the cable without sagging, but also without much stretch. If the locking device was not removed, it can now be released.
- When fixing the handles of the window lifters of the VAZ 2106, we rotate the lifting mechanism of the window lifter, while the entire system should rotate smoothly, without jerks and jams. Now we move the glass to the lower position, lower the windows, attach the cable to the bar.
